Quantum Rail is a specialist consulting firm who supports companies in the development and delivery of railway signalling and control systems.  We specialise in innovation, and the use of cutting-edge, emerging and Commercial-off-the-Shelf technologies.

Since our establishment in 2018, we have provided support to large, multi-disciplinary and multi-stakeholder rail signalling projects across Australia. Our team comprises of a large pool of industry-leading experts who provide comprehensive services from our offices in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Adelaide.

We support our clients through the full project lifecycle with a focus on specification, concept  design, tendering, project execution and commissioning.

Our expertise and experience enable us to provide design, safety certification and type approval of rail signalling systems whilst our in house developed technologies enables the efficient delivery of both advanced commercial-off-the-shelf and proprietary-based signalling and train control systems.

Quantum VDU

Our Technologies

Quantum Rail offers our own specialised control system (Quantum Visual Display Unit or ‘QVDU’), which provides our clients with enhanced delivery efficiency and significant cost-savings.

QVDU is configurable with main-stream technologies such as Microlok, ElectrologIXS and also COTS PLC technologies including HIMA.

QVDU has achieved type approval accreditation with V/Line and has been successfully deployed in the delivery of several high profile, safety-critical projects.

Quantum Rail has a proven track record for delivering high profile projects through our accredited ISO9001 quality  framework. We operate under our own accredited ISO45001 Safety Management System whilst integrating with those of our clients.

Cranbourne Line Upgrade Quantum Rail Signalling

Cranbourne Line Upgrade

The Cranbourne Line Upgrade (CLU) project  involved re-signalling the entire Cranbourne  line and the complete reconfiguration of Dandenong Station. This major signalling  project has been led by Quantum Rail since  its inception in February 2019.

Quantum Rail have been responsible for delivering the entire signalling design component with exception of CBI and TCMS software. This included leading concept design, detailed design,  managing inter-disciplinary interfaces and  many other stage-works packages.

V/Line Quantum Rail Signalling design

V/Line Wireless Level Crossing

Quantum Rail assisted V/Line and Rail Projects Victoria (RPV) to deploy and certify a new innovative wireless level crossing system, which allowed for safe and reliable  level crossing systems to be deployed across some of  Victoria’s most difficult terrain.

Quantum Rail developed the  communications systems design and performed the overall Safety Qualification Testing to ensure that a  robust, safe, and reliable system was delivered.

HIMA Level Crossing Monitoring

Using Quantum Rail’s VDU technology and expert  knowledge of HIMA control systems, we have assisted ARTC to develop and standardise a modern level crossing  monitoring system across their Australian rail network.

To  achieve this, Quantum Rail worked with ARTC to develop a new prototype system, provide safety assurance and  support the trial commissioning.
